Jane Iredale is a world-leading brand of high performance, high quality and pure products.  Your product choice depends on what your needs are and when and where you intend using the products.  Contact Jade Serenity Spa to ask a Licensed Skin Care Specialist for advice.  Jane Iredale is Jade Serenity Spa’s mineral makeup line.  This highly reputable brand’s products provide excellent coverage and is especially suited for special occasions or photographic events.  Made from crushed minerals extracted from nature (the earth), and couched in gentle and nourishing bases such as aloe, the minerals stay on the surface of the skin while the moisturizing bases penetrate the skin surface to heal and nourish.  It does not contain harmful toxins such as parabens for preservatives, and irritants such as fragrances, binders, synthetic dyes and colours and is considered purer and kinder to the skin.  This is also a factor that differentiates this brand from other mineral based makeup lines, as not all mineral based products are necessarily chemical and toxin free.It has a very low toxicity rating which trumps any other commercial brand by far and is safe enough to use even on skin conditions such as acne, to cover up blemishes and scarring.
What is mineral makeup?Mineral cosmetics are made from minerals extracted from nature (the earth) such as titanium dioxide, a naturally occurring mineral on the earth’s surface.  Used from the time of the ancient Greeks for sun protection, minerals such as this provide excellent coverage and double as sun protection.  Many of Jane Iredale products have an SPF factor ,eg SPF15, which is considered sufficient for regular, everyday protection by the Skin Cancer Foundation.  Mineral makeup also is known for being noncomedogenic (will not block pores).  Mineral cosmetics initially existed primarily in powder form but have now evolved to liquid formulations. Examples of minerals include iron oxide, titanium dioxide, mica, and zinc oxide, that have a calming effect on the skin and are beneficial for inflammatory conditions, including acne and rosacea.

Why choose Jane Iredale mineral makeup?

  • Non-comedogenic, will not block pores. Oil free.
  • Virtually no allergy risk & sensivity risk. (Products have undergone sensitivity testing in an FDA-approved laboratory with zero sensitivity recorded).
  • Broad spectrum UVA andUVB protection, up to SPF 30. (UVA tested at High)
  • Anti-inflammatory, helps to calm and soothe irritated skin.
  • Very water resistant rating by an FDA-approved lab.
  • Concentrated pigment provides complete coverage for skin conditions like acne, rosacea and redness following treatments like chemical peels and laser resurfacing. Provides a sheer, weightless and luminescent coverage.
  • Contains no parabens and FD&C dyes Composed of inert minerals that cannot support bacteria, limiting the need for artificial preservatives.
  • No products have been tested on animals. Vegan friendly.
  • A list of Vegan products is available.

The Jane Iredale line is a highly-sophisticated blend of minerals and pigments, micro-pulverized to form microscopic flat particles that overlap on the skin to form a filter, allowing the skin to breathe and function normally while still protecting it from air-borne pollutants.  The staying power of the minerals is so great that they rarely need a touch-up during the day.  They are also water resistant and won’t crease or smear even during the most strenuous exercise.

These state-of-the-art minerals are available in so many shades that there’s one for every complexion no matter what the ethnicity.

Brief History  Jane Iredale is the president and founder of Iredale Mineral Cosmetics.  Before she formed her cosmetics company in 1994, Jane Iredale’s background had been in film, theatre and television.  Being on camera, meant having a clear and flawless complexion, a necessity to get ahead.  Jane Iredale saw first hand how a woman’s career depended on her looks and clear complexion and how skin disorders and sensitivities not only threaten careers but can also destroy self-confidence.  This motivated her to create a makeup line, not only for high performance in a busy world, but makeup that promoted good skin, health, beauty and longevity.  The Jane Iredale makeup line is not just a refinement of conventional makeup, it’s a new technology altogether.  The most beautiful cosmetic asset is good health and healthy skin.  This line is designed to enhance the wearer’s natural beauty and, as a result, allow her personality to shine through. It’s so effective it is recommended by plastic surgeons, dermatologists and skin care professionals.

Jade Serenity Spa is an authorized Dermalogica Skin Care Center.  Dermalogica is one of the best known and well-loved skincare brands in the world.  But why has it become so widely used and how does it retain its legions of loyal fans and evangelists?

To answer these questions, we have to go back to the beginning of the story.

Where Dermalogica Began

Jane Wurwand
Jane Wurwand, Founder of The International Dermal Institute and Dermalogica

The company we know as Dermalogica, today, started its life as The International Dermal Institute. Founded in 1983 by Jane Wurwand, this postgraduate training facility for skin care professionals was originally centered purely around research and education. However, it wasn’t long before Jane noticed a real lack of results-driven products in the marketplace. Driven by a genuine passion for skin health, she decided to do something about it.

Zoom forwards three years to 1986 and Dermalogica, the skincare company, was founded. The very first thing that set Dermalogica products apart from many existing skincare ranges was the ingredients they used in their products.  Instead of opting for the artificial colors, synthetic fragrances, S.D. alcohols, lanolin, or mineral oils that other companies were using, Dermalogica insisted on much higher quality ingredients – ones that would actually help your skin rather than harm it.

The second thing that set Dermalogica apart from its skincare contemporaries was that all skin care professionals associated with the brand had to undergo training in order to be eligible to stock and supply Dermalogica products.  This ensures that all customers receive expert and no-nonsense advice about their skin when they visit a Dermalogica skin therapist.

Face Mapping® skin analysis

Face Mapping® offers the consumer a systematic analysis of current skin conditions to gain insight for proactive preventive care.  Consumers receive their Face Mapping® skin analysis at no charge by a professional skin therapist as the first step in any consultation or treatment.  The process, which can take just a few minutes, divides the skin into 14 zones.  The therapist not only examines the skin visually, but also touches the skin of the face and neck in all of the zones, identifying subtle skin conditions through nuances of texture, temperature and tension.  This information is recorded on a graphic “map” of the client’s skin, offers guidance for appropriate product prescriptions and is kept on file as a basis for comparison for future visits.

The technique is essential to Dermalogica’s belief that fixed skin “types” are a myth, and that, in fact, everyone’s skin condition is always changing, requiring adjustments in both home care and professional treatments.  Skin condition is affected by multiple factors, ranging from shifts in hormonal levels and changes in diet to changes in weather and environment

Dermalogica Today

Today, the company has its HQ in California and offices in 48 countries around the world. The Dermalogica skincare range is widely known as “the professional’s choice” and has many fans, both professional and consumer, who swear they’d never recommend or use anything else.  The focus of the brand remains centered on results-driven products alongside well-informed, expert advice rather than the “frilly packaging or overblown hype” found elsewhere in the industry.

There is also a real emphasis on sustainability in the brand: the central offices have one of the highest green certificates available in the US, ingredients and packaging are sourced responsibly and sustainably, and the company has various partner initiatives to help reduce waste and energy use throughout the supply chain.

The Dermalogica Foundation

Since 1999, Dermalogica has also played an important role in community. The Foundation supports local, grassroots projects that help women and children – most recently, this support took the form of helping to set up FITE (Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship) – a micro-funding organization similar to Kiva that offers small, crowd-sourced business loans to women entrepreneurs all over the world.
